Plain English Summary
VectorAlpha creates open-source software for quantitative finance. Our tools are free to use, modify, and distribute under the Apache 2.0 license. We're not selling anything, just sharing code we think is useful.
Using Our Software
All our software is released under the Apache License 2.0. This means you can:
- Use it for any purpose (personal, commercial, etc.)
- Modify it however you want
- Distribute it to others
- Use it in proprietary software
The only requirements are that you include the license notice and state any changes you made if you redistribute it.
No Warranty
Our software is provided "as is" without any warranty. While we strive to create quality tools, we can't guarantee they'll work perfectly for your specific needs. Use them at your own risk, especially in production trading systems.
Website Usage
Feel free to browse our website, read our documentation, and learn from our examples. Don't try to break things or overload our servers - that's not cool.
Contributing
If you contribute code to our projects, you're agreeing to license your contributions under the same Apache 2.0 license. This keeps everything open and free for everyone.
Financial Disclaimer
Our tools are for educational and research purposes. We're not financial advisors. Any trading decisions you make using our software are your responsibility. Past performance doesn't indicate future results, and all trading involves risk.
Changes to Terms
We might update these terms occasionally, but since we're just sharing open-source code, any changes will likely be minor clarifications rather than major policy shifts.

The Legal Bit
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved through good-faith discussion first, because going to court over free software would be silly.
